FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ROBOTIC DISPENSING

How does it work?

Robotic Dispensing works by taking care of the potential problem areas any pharmacy experiences. These are:

  • Packing, storing and stock rotation
  • Stocktaking
  • Dispensing
  • Ordering/Replenishment

Packing, storing and stock rotation

It’s important to make sure our stock is sold well before its expiration date. Robotic Dispensing ensures our stock is rotated correctly on a first in/first out principal. For popular products, quantities can become large and Robotic Dispensing provides:

  • The ability to store various amounts of stock at once (based on product usage)
  • An easy-to-use packing method that tells the operator where to insert products
  • A stock rotation mechanism that ensures the products put into the machine earliest are the first ones dispensed

This means you can be assured that you are always receiving medications that are well-dated to their expiration date.

Dispensing

With Robotic Dispensing, we no longer have to disappear behind cupboards and shelves to find a product for a patient. The product will be found, and delivered to the Pharmacist/dispensary technician without them even leaving the customer. This gives us more time to talk to you or the patient.

Stocktaking

The Robotic Dispenser keeps track of how many of each product we have in stock, so the Pharmacist doesn’t have to go shelf-hunting to count products. It handles all transactions itself, so any stock movement is recorded and quantities are adjusted accordingly.

Ordering/Replenishment

Robotic Dispensing ensures that we are always aware of how much stock we have, something many businesses are often guilty of not being aware of. The Robotic Dispenser is able to provide reports at our request based on:

  • Quantity sold
  • Quantity remaining in storage
  • Stock requiring replenishment/ordering

This means we should always have the medication you are looking for in stock.
